BNF BNF for Children Medicines Complete

Welcome to the May BNF eNewsletter.
Fourteen new drug monographs have been added to the BNF in the last month, including - elotuzumab, daclizumab, ixekizumab, lenvatinib, loxapine, opicapone, pitolisant and selexipag. Dose changes for BNF, atorvastatin, fluvastatin, and simvastatin [with concomitant elbasvir with grazoprevir]; rosuvastatin [with concomitant elbasvir with grazoprevir or with concomitant sofosbuvir with velpatasvir], phenytoin [rate of intravenous administration in adults], tranexamic acid: prevention and treatment of significant haemorrhage following trauma [unlicensed use], bicalutamide: prostate cancer (metastatic) with the aim of retaining sexual function [unlicensed use].

This issue includes updated guidance on the management of tuberculosis and new guidance on the management of haemorrhoids, and anal fissure [BNFC only]. We have also updated MHRA advice on canagliflozin and increased risk of lower-limb amputation (mainly toes), and NHS improvement patient safety alert for valproate: resources to support the safety of girls and women who are being treated with valproate. You will also find NICE technology appraisals for apremilast, elbasvir with grazoprevir, everolimus, and sofosbuvir with velpatasvir.
