Promoting your book

Prior to publication the sales and marketing team in the UK and US will put together a sales and marketing plan specifically for the title. We try to ensure the campaigns and promotions are strategically planned and all the forthcoming sales and marketing opportunities analysed to ensure maximum response and eventual success.

In addition we welcome your ideas and suggestions for publicising your book. Please contact us with news of relevant conferences or meetings you may be attending, associations and societies that you feel would be interested in the subject, and any further ideas you have for publicising the book. Your main contact at Pharmaceutical Press will be the Commissioning Editor who will be happy to pass anything on to relevant members of the rest of the team.

Direct Mail:

Promotional Leaflets and the Pharmaceutical Press Annual Catalogue

  • All titles published are featured in the Pharmaceutical Press product catalogue published annually in October. Around 30,000 copies are printed to be mailed to specific groups and for display at conferences and exhibitions worldwide.
  • Leaflets are produced for individual and groups of related titles that are then used in direct mail campaigns.
  • Our direct mail is targeted at individuals, institutions and companies worldwide. These markets include: previous purchasers of old editions and related products, libraries, individual members of special interest groups, pharmaceutical companies and their libraries, the scientific and medical book trade, pharmacy academics and schools of pharmacy, community and hospital pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals who may be interested in the title. Lists of "known buyers" are also sourced from other publisher's including society and association-based publishers.

Solus Flyers

  • Based around the cover of the book a flyer is produced for promotional purposes and will be displayed at conferences or used in various mailings carried out throughout the year.
  • The author will be sent about 50 of these for your own use and distribution as deemed appropriate.

  • We will use promotional advertising in relevant academic journals - our titles and external ones.
  • A series of adverts will be designed and run in the Pharmaceutical Journal which has a worldwide circulation of around 52,000 copies.

  • All titles feature on the Pharmaceutical Press website: www.pharmpress.com. This website receives around 40 000 visitors a month. It presents information on all out titles in our online catalogue with the opportunity to purchase books through a secure ordering system.
  • In addition we offer other societies and associations and online booksellers information so they can feature the title on their websites.
  • We send out email notification of new publications to customers through the website on a regular basis.
  • The N. American Office email an e-newsletter to a gowing list of over 3,000 customers featuring the title every month.

Conferences and Exhibitions:

  • Pharmaceutical Press attend around 25 key conferences throughout the year. At these meetings we will have an exhibition stand and relevant books will be displayed with promotional material, often available for sale to delegates.
  • In addition we continuously research other meetings specific to the title. Publicity materials, flyers, inserts or small book displays will be arranged for these meetings.

Organisations and Societies:

  • Contacts will be made with specific organisations with a possible interest in the title to organise promotional activities such as mailing their members, advertising in their journals and promotion at their conferences. We currently have co-marketing and re-selling partnerships with the ACCP, APhA, ASHP and DIA.
  • These also include various student bodies including the British Pharmaceutical Students Association, European Pharmaceutical Students Association and the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation.

Review Journals:

  • Upon publication the title will be sent to a number of journals based in that field for review. We are open to suggestions as to which journals the title is best sent to for review. Also journals can specifically request a copy of the book.
